20th Century Fox has released a cast photo (click on the image for a larger version) from the upcoming Alien: Covenant which is the sequel to director Ridley Scott’s Prometheus
I personally wasn’t a fan of Promethus and felt there was a missed opportunity with the film and it really didn’t deliver what fans of the franchised wanted. Now with this film the title it suggests it’s more of an Alien movie rather than a direct sequel to Prometheus which I think is a good thing. The cast for Alien: Covenant is also very impressive and includes Katherine Waterston, Amy Seimetz, Demian Bichir, Danny McBride, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Billy Crudup, and Michael Fassbender. Fassbender reprises his role as David in the film, but he’s playing a new and different android presumably assigned to the Covenant ship. The photo above also confirms that James Franco is in this movie.
Here’s the official synopsis for Alien: Covenant:
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
