First look at ‘Black Lightning’

0

In February it was announced that Greg Berlanti‘s “Black Lightning” series was moving from FOX to join the other DC heroes on The CW network in the US, shortly after former Hart of Dixie star Cress Williams was cast as the lead role. Production is already and we now have our first official look at Williams suited up as “Black Lighting”

Black Lightning (real name Jefferson Pierce) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was one of the first major African American superheroes to appear in DC Comics. He debuted in Black Lightning #1 (April 1977), and was created by writer Tony Isabella with artist Trevor Von Eeden. In current continuity, he is a metahuman born with the ability to generate and magnify externally-localized electro-magnetic phenomena, by manipulating intense bio-electric fields generated from his body.

He does look bad ass in this picture! The new Black Lightning costume is designed by Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and Iron Man costume designer Laura Jean Shannon. I think the CW Arrowverse shows and Supergirl are the best Superhero shows on TV at the moment and I’m sure this show will be a great addition even if it isn’t going to be part of the Arrowverse .

“Black Lightning” will be written by Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil.
