Nintendo Direct: Everything you need to know!


Well Nintendo had their latest Nintendo Direct – See full the Nintendo Direct video above and we got to see some brand new games, and we got more information on games we already knew about.

Super Mario Odyssey

The Nintendo Direct concluded with a new trailer for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch game ‘Mario Odyssey‘ which is being released in the UK on 27th October.

In this new trailer we got to see our first look at a few new kingdoms, including the Seaside Kingdom, Snow Kingdom, and a yet unnamed tropical islands kingdom. One important thing we learnt from this trailer is that Princess Peach’s tiara is the sister of Mario’s hat buddy Cappy. Nintendo also revealed a brand new Nintendo Switch bundle, to be released alongside Super Mario Odyssey. Included in this Switch bundle is the standard Nintendo Switch console, dock and Grip, with two new ‘Mario‘ red Joy-Con controllers and a copy of the Super Mario Odyssey game.


DOOM + Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

For us in the GeekDevil offices the big surprise was that the classic first person shooter DOOM is coming to the Nintendo Switch! Yep we will be able to play DOOM on the go! Plus we got the news that Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch next year.


We were given more information about the Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon games. See the trailer below. A new Poké Ball Edition of the new 2DS XL design will launch on 17 November.

Kirby: Battle Royale & Kirby: Star Allies

We saw a glimpse of this game earlier this year and this multiplayer Kirby game for 3DS sees various versions of the lovable character battling in multiple modes, including battle arena and a racing mode. The UK are going to be lucky as it launches 3rd November before the USA.

We also learnt that the Kirby game for the Switch will be called Kirby: Star Allies, and it will be released spring 2018.


Minecraft was announce to be available now on the Nintendo 3DS / 2DS eShop.

Mario Party: The Top 100

Mario Party: The Top 100 for the 3DS / 2DS was announced, which includes the top 100 mini-games from across all the games in the Mario Party series.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

We got a closer look at Xenoblade Chronicles 2 with highly anticipated RPG coming to the Nintendo Switch which is being released on 1st December.

Snipperclips Plus

Snipperclips is a great co-op puzzle game for the Nintendo Switch, and now it’s receiving an update and a retail release. It’s called Snipperclips Plus and it will be released this November.

Project Octopath Traveler

A new trailer for Square-Enix’s upcoming Project Octopath Traveler Switch-exclusive RPG was shown with the news that a demo is now live on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Fire Emblem Warriors

A brand new trailer for Fire Emblem Warriors was shown and confirmed that Lyn will be a playable character.

The game launches on the Nintendo Switch on 20th October, with some new amiibo figures.

 Arcade Archives

For all you retro arcade fans – It was announced that 6 Nintendo arcade classics will be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

The arcade classic Mario Bros will be released on 27th September, with Punch-Out!!, Ice Climbers, CluClu Land, Pinball and Balloon Fight launching later on.

A few Nintendo Switch indie games got mentioned, such as Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, PAN-PAN and Crypt of the Necrodancer.

Overall lots of cool new games and updates coming to the Nintendo Switch and 2DS / 3DS in the next few months leading up to Christmas.
